Autumn is the time when the Ligularia dentata ‘Desdemona’ are blooming in Finland. Those plants also called ‘elephant ears’ because of the size and shape of the leaves have big yellow flowers which attract lots of flying insects like bumble bees, hoverflies, and different types of butterflies like the European peacocks or the red admirals (Vanessa Atalanta) for example.
Except roses, most of other garden flowers have already withered and the Ligularia dentata ‘Desdemona’ are the last one before the cold winter.
The pictures have been taken 2 weeks ago at the beginning of October. Now they are gone and covered by a white and cold layer of snow.
